Why brands need to focus more on Digital Marketing during the pandemic.

Work from home. Social Distancing. Pandemic. New words with new meanings. COVID has changed what these words used to mean to us. Our perception of these newfound concepts has changed the way we live our lives, a challenge for any brand’s business. A new challenge invites for change, and a stronger focus on Digital Marketing is the change you need for your brand. Here are 5 reasons why dominating the digital space should be a priority at the moment.

Screens are now the windows to the outside world

Due to government restrictions, people are constrained to their four walls. It is natural for the increased screen time that we all have noticed in our lives. Recreation, work, socializing, and even exercise — everything is now being done through mobiles or computers. The internet is the sole gateway to the outside world now and there is almost no alternative for it. All eyes are pointing to the internet, so it makes sense for your brand to make a place for itself within that ecosystem. Even if you’re a brick-and-mortar business your brand can have a digital presence. We’re not going to be under lockdown forever after all. Your services could be something to look forward to once all this over.

Networking events aren’t as fun when you’re 6 ft apart

Attending social events to connect with other businesses for potential customers is an antiquated way to market yourself now. Especially with social distancing, it would just be awkward to be interacting in a room with those kinds of restrictions. What seems to work now is presenting your company to the public in a way that turns heads and opens eyes. This is called online engagement. Content that echoes your brand’s core values is what sells now. Reaction and response to this content, in turn, generate connections. You’re one comment/message/DM away from meeting a potential client who is interested in what you have to offer. Linkedin is the perfect place for this. Essentially, it is Facebook for businesses. Creating genuine content on this platform can greatly benefit you in the long run.

Lend a helping hand to connect with your customers

The battle with COVID cannot be fought alone. If we really are in this together everyone has to do their part. Brands can do their part by raising awareness about the situation. You can remind customers to be precautious and provide useful information about the norms to follow announced by attested by health officials. Certain services can be provided for free or at a discounted price to those in need. Social media campaigns tailored to fighting the COVID battle can be really good for engagement with consumers.

Become the beacon for positivity

Don’t report the news, that’s the journalist’s job. Look for the light even in the darkest of times. Brands can put out content that gives their customers hope to break out of the negativity that this pandemic instills within us. Humourous, hopeful, and empathetic content can invoke positive emotions, creating a stronger relationship with your customers. Don’t use every opportunity for being positive as an excuse to promote. It comes off as distasteful and disingenuous.

Isolation has created the need for exclusivity

Consumers are opting for services that blend well with the lifestyle this pandemic has required us to adapt to. People want their service to be more individualistic, exclusive, and tailored to their routine. Facial makeover? Book an appointment with a hairdresser to come home. Therapy session? Connect with your therapist over the video, online. The internet is the medium for this new lifestyle and is one of the main reasons why you need to create a presence on it.

Make the most of these times. Opportunity lurks in the darkest of corners. Several nuanced reasons support investing in Digital Marketing. Billboards and TV Ads don’t attract attention like they used to. With a lot of heads bent down staring at screens due to this pandemic, it would be a shame to not create a presence for your brand there.
